Author Spotlight and Interview: Samantha Combs

TODAY I'M GLAD TO HOST AUTHOR SAMANTHA  COMBS,
a truly versatile author that goes from YA Paranormal Romance to Middle Age Horror to Adult Horror and does it perfectly!

Here are some of her works:

The award winning novel: Spellbound

Logan Daniels has always led a sheltered life in sleepy, predictable Lancaster, New Hampshire. But when beautiful Serena suddenly appears at school one day, his comfortable existence becomes anything but as he finds himself falling in love with her. There’s something special about Serena Starr. He realizes what it is when he sees her unleash her spells. Soon, a mysterious and foreboding presence settles over his placid home.

Logan and Serena find themselves battling darkness and evil with an ominous mission: it wants Serena and will stop at nothing to have her. Tearing apart Logan’s town, threatening his friends, even causing harm to his family, the demon will spread its doom over every facet of Logan’s once placid life. Logan matures in ways he could never have imagined as he struggles to protect those he loves, including Serena. But he can't do it alone.

Serena hails from a long line of able and powerful women who will aide in the battle and perhaps settle a score of their own. The strength of the coven and Serena's love will be behind him, but ultimately this is Logan’s fight to win. But, will he?

EVERSPELL

Book Two in the Spellbound series continues the love story of Logan and Serena.  Having previously dispatched Christophe, the dark demon trying to capture and kidnap Serena for her special witch DNA in Book One, the two lovers believe they are now free to plan and live their lives together.  Or are they?

When an innocent mistake made by their newlywed friends frees the way for Christophe to return, their idyllic attempt at happiness is marred by the nightmare they must outsmart, finally, to achieve the happily ever after they deserve.

They know they can rely on their coven to be there for them, and some new friends and additions to the family, as they once again embark on an epic battle that will secure their life, their love, and their future together.  Once, they were Spellbound, now their story continues, for love, forever, for Everspell.

GHOSTLY

INTERVIEW:

  1. For people who haven’t heard of "The Deadlies" , make a brief description.
This is my newest, releasing through Secret Cravings Publishing in April.

When Calliope Flood catches the unwanted attention of prettiest and most privileged girls at her new school, she learns they are possessed of more than just good ole’ Southern charm; they are also possessed by the demons of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Whether she likes it or not, the Ravens want the pretty new girl to become one of their members.  As a budding journalist, Callie is more interested in investigating them than joining them.  When people begin to disappear, she soon discovers the Ravens aren’t just interested in her for her looks; slowly, she learns she’s a legacy.  Calliope enlists her eccentric Aunt, her new friends, and a quietly disarming Southern boy to form their own group, The Virtues, to free the girls, and the town, from the demons that have taken over their lives.

Are you an early bird or night owl?

Night owl.  By necessity.  I am also a wife and mother of two, and most of my day hours are spoken for.  So I write after 10pm at night and on the weekends.  Funny thing, I’ve tried to write when I grabbed a free day and can’t do it.  True creature of habit, I guess.

If you could meet any person in the world who would it be and why?

It may be a cliché, but I would love to meet and gab with Stephen King.  Besides being an amazing author, I just get the impression he’s a neat guy.

Name a book you wish you had written.

Saving Ceecee Hunnicutt.  The author, Beth Hoffman’s voice of a young girl making her way in a Southern town still stuck in the prejudices of a bygone era made me cheer, and weep and condemn.  I loved the book and don’t care if the author never writes another.  She has earned her placed in the world with that one.

What do you do, besides writing?

I work fulltime, raise my kids, manage a marriage that has surprised me many more times than I ever imagined it could, and savor the deliciousness of following my creative heart.

Guilty pleasures?

I admit to a sick fascination with reality show contests.  I am addicted to the Food Network Channel and have not missed an episode of American Idol in twelve years.

Best reward as a writer?

When a reader “gets” me.  When what I have written is received in exactly the way that I intended it.  And when they tell me.  Always, when they tell me.

How do you react to a bad review?

Publicly?  By ignoring it and moving on.  Privately?  I gnash my teeth and wring my hands and second-guess the living hell out of myself.  Then I write something better.

What are your favorite TV shows?

Currently, I am wrapped all up in Nashville, The Good Wife, and Grimm.  Tightly written, well-fleshed out characters and concepts and storyline arcs that give me chills.

Favorite movies?

Two.  The Abyss and Almost Famous

She loves writing and she is in awe of the technological advances of our lives. Ereaders and similar gadgets are bringing the written word to a generation that might never have discovered books otherwise and every time sheI sees a kid pick one up to read something it fills her with joy to be a small part of that process. If a child can connect with literature because he or she did so electronically, a connection still was made. She is excited to see what our world has in store for literature and excited to be along for that ride.
