I will admit I scoffed at the way it started but in the end I had fallen in love with this story…completely untraditional it was a very original idea, not to mention modern. This story had such a good plot and the story structure was sound.” Kacii – The Kooky Bookworm (Book Blogger)

About the Author

Mia Hoddell lives in the UK with her family and two cats. She spends most of her time writing or reading and loves anything paranormal. Mia always had a love of writing but never reading. She was more interested in sports and hated sitting still - despite getting three poems published before the age of sixteen. Finally though, she found some novels that captured her interest and developed a love of reading which is now one of her favourite hobbies.

Mia began with poems before moving on to short stories. Although she enjoyed this, Mia found she had too much to tell with too little space, so later on she created her first series 'The Wanderer Trilogy' and from there other ideas have emerged. With a total of nine books planned at this moment, she is busy working on her second series 'Elemental Killers' before moving onto the next idea on her ever growing list.

***Excerpt***

Happy with the amount of photos I had collected I started to head back out of the forest, still flicking through my shots. As well as close ups, I had taken a few landscapes and as I was almost at the edge of the forest I noticed something in one of the photographs that made me stop.
In the left hand corner was a figure that looked mostly human, but was blurred as if they were moving on the spot.
A cold shudder shot through me.
Looking over my shoulder I became slightly panicked and felt as if someone was following me.
My eyes flicked and searched the shadows. Even though there was no sign that anything had ever been behind me, the forest looked different now - dark and threatening.
Instinctively I broke away and ran, still clutching the camera that was displaying the freaky image. Surrounded by trees I didn’t stop until I was free of the forest and back in the open light and sight of my house.
Throwing open my door, I slumped against the inside of it, regaining my breath from the short sprint. Once I had recovered I looked down at the photo once more, just to make sure that I hadn’t been seeing things. The old saying “the camera never lies,” came into my mind and for the first time I wished it not to be true. Sure enough though, as I looked down at the screen, the figure was still there and this time I noticed a red and orange glow around where its feet should have been. The image almost looked like the person was on fire but I thought I would have surely noticed if there had been a burning man in front of me.

5 stars review: Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout

OPAL (Lux #3)

by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Genre: YA Paranormal Romance

SYNOPSIS:

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

MY THOUGHTS:

WOW!

This series keeps amazing me.

Well, there is not much I can say about this outstanding story. It started exactly where the previous book ended, it developed fast, full of twists and turns, with a lot of action, intrigues, schemes and love.

Jennifer L. Armentrout excels herself book after book.

In Opal, we join this interesting and sundry group in their quest to set Beth free.

Dawson is back and it's nice to see how he starts introverted but as time goes by he begins to open himself.

Incredible! As if one of them wasn't hot enough, now there are two!

Blake is also back... I had opposing feelings towards him the whole book, at some point, I thought he had some redeeming qualities but in the end, I decided I hate him. As I said after finishing Onyx: I hate you "Flake"!

Katy and Daemon's relationship was a little stucked for a while, but luckily close to the end, everything got a little more spicy.

He is delicious and in this instalment we got to see his protective side along with the cocky and sexy one.

I even liked Ash in this book. Nope, I didn't go nuts (well, maybe yes but not because of this). She matured. A little.

Anyway, the writing is superb, the dialogues are just flawless and the end...

The very end was like WTF????????
I am waiting for Origin to arrive! because I seriously can't live with that MOON SIZE CLIFFHANGER! I just couldn't believe THAT happened and there was only a few sentences left!

5 stars review: Goddess (Starcrossed #3)

Goddess (Starcrossed #3)

by Josephine Angelini

Genre: YA Paranormal Romance - Mythology

SYNOPSIS:

After accidentally unleashing the gods from their captivity on Olympus, Helen must find a way to re-imprison them without starting a devastating war. But the gods are angry, and their thirst for blood already has a body count.

To make matters worse, the Oracle reveals that a diabolical Tyrant is lurking among them, which drives a wedge between the once-solid group of friends. As the gods use the Scions against one another, Lucas’s life hangs in the balance. Still unsure whether she loves him or Orion, Helen is forced to make a terrifying decision, for war is coming to her shores.

In Josephine Angelini’s compelling conclusion to the masterfully woven Starcrossed trilogy, a goddess must rise above it all to change a destiny that’s been written in the stars. With worlds built just as fast as they crumble, love and war collide in an all-out battle that will leave no question unanswered and no heart untouched.

MY THOUGHTS

"She must rise... or they will fall"

I am so happy! My latest choices have been amazing, I'm spreading 5 stars reviews all over! yay!

Goddess is a wonderful book, it's such a shame to say goodbye to this series and these characters I grew so attached to.

First let me say how mesmerized I am by the story and... the cover (yup! I adore it!)

I loved absolutely everything about this book, about the whole series actually.

The characters matured so much through it and they gained depth.
We got to know a lot about each of them, things we weren't aware of.

I even related to Daphne. (not that I got to like her but I could understand her motives)

Lucas, Orion and Helen, the perfect love triangle. It was so properly developed that I couldn't decide which of the guys I liked more.

But not only them, Hector... what a character! The warrior. Smart, strong, loyal and so caring and protective of others.

Actually all of them were swoon worthy! But not only because they were sexy or else, J. Angelini is great at creating complex personalities.
They just pull you in the story.

" I couldn't love you more if you came to me holding the sun in your right hand and all the stars in the sky in your left"

What else? I loved the past live flashes!

oh! and nearly at the end there was a moment that I was like: OMG! this can't be happening! I was about to through the book away, because based on the actual Greek myth, that particular event had to happen but I just couldn't believe it!
Though, how it unfolded is for me to know and for you to find out when you read the book! :D

Still, the end is bittersweet, but stunning!!!

To sum up, this was an exciting read with lots of love and schemes, surprises and a lot of action!

My heart is still melting!

I can't wait to read more of JOSEPHINE ANGELINI! I'm her number 1 fan now!

I hope you guys liked it!
Rhomy.

5 stars review: Beautiful Creatures

Beautiful Creatures (The Caster Chronicles #1)

by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Genre: YA Paranormal Romance

Synopsis:

There were no surprises in Gatlin County.

We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.
At least, that's what I thought.
Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a curse.
There was a girl.

And in the end, there was a grave.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

MY THOUGHTS:

A guilty pleasure!
I must admit I watched the movie first... it wasn't my intention though... but it was the only one available on the plane lol

Anyway, this book has been on my TBR list for a while and I decided to give it a shot.

"There were no surprises in Gatlin County. We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere"

The truth is I wasn't dissapointed. I loved it!
It's definitely much better than the movie but ... aren't they always?
The only problem of watching the movie before reading the book is that I kept imagining the characters in the way the actors look hehe.

It is YA, it is not the brightest piece ever written but it kept me glued to the pages and that is absolutely worthy of 5 stars.

I liked the fact that it was told from Ethan's POV, yay! a male POV for a change!

"Great. It wasn't enough to dream real girls and hear imaginary songs. Now I had to hear voices, too."

Ethan is funny, caring and loyal. I liked him, not in the way I liked Kaidan Rowe (Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins). Nope. He is not the typical sexy guy you fall in love with, he is just Ethan. His devotion to Lena and the way he tries to protect her all the time is so sweet.

Lena is smart, introverted but at the same time, she says what she wants to say. Sometimes she is beyond whiny and such a baby, meaning she keeps trying to push everyone away because "she is going dark" ooooooh, it would have been more intelligent to enjoy the time she had... but then again... where would the plot end up if she was perfect, right?

Link is super funny, and yes, there is a part where you just want to slap him, but he kept me entertained.

Though, after all I said, my absolute favorite character was Macon Ravenwood, Lena's uncle. He is mysterious and even though he may sound a little creepy at some specific moments, he just wants to protect Lena. Btw, I would so love to have a house like his! hehe.

I almost forget about Marianne! She is great too! :)

Regarding the plot, the idea of casters and the way they are claimed is interesting. There was an epic turn at the end that changed everything I was learning about it but I liked it!

I am officially a fan. hehe.

If you haven't read it yet, give it a try.

I hope you guys liked it!
Rhomy.

The Earth Dwellers will cap off an eighteen month journey that has taken me from unknown Indie author to still-mostly-unknown fulltime Indie author. The change is a subtle one for most people, but for me it’s a dream come true. To the hundreds (and now maybe even thousands!) of readers who have come along for the ride with me, either by reading the Dwellers Saga, the Country Saga, or both, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Now down to business. There may be some of you who have only read the three books in the Country Saga or only the three books in the Dwellers Saga, and are now thinking you’ll read The Earth Dwellers, which is supposedly the 4th book in BOTH the Country Saga and the Dwellers Saga. Well, that’s awesome! However, I must highly recommend that before reading The Earth Dwellers that you read the three books in BOTH series. Trust me, doing so will greatly enhance your experience, as The Earth Dwellers will be taking significant characters from both series and crashing them together (yes, like a water country wave) into an action-packed tale of struggle and loss and hope and friendship… And maybe a little love, too.

David Estes was born in El Paso, Texas but moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania when he was very young. He grew up in Pittsburgh and then went to Penn State for college. Eventually he moved to Sydney, Australia where he met his wife and soul mate, Adele, who he’s now been happily married to for more than two years.
A reader all his life, David began writing novels for the children's and YA markets in 2010, and has completed 13 novels, 11 of which have been published.  In June of 2012, David became a fulltime writer and is now travelling the world with his wife while he writes books, and she writes and takes photographs.

Recently he’s been inspired by some of his favorite authors, like Suzanne Collins, Veronica Roth, and Maggie Stiefvater.
David’s a writer with OCD, a love of dancing and singing (but only when no one is looking or listening), a mad-skilled ping-pong player, an obsessive Goodreads group member, and prefers writing at the swimming pool to writing at a table.  He loves responding to e-mails, Facebook messages, Tweets, blog comments, and Goodreads comments from his readers, all of whom he considers to be his friends.
