I know this book has a few years now, but it's been in my TBR list for ever, I'm glad I gave it a chance!

MY THOUGHTS:
I wish I could say I was blown away from page one, but no... that was not the case with "The Iron King". I swear at first I was wondering why the hype?
I found it very difficult to keep up with the different creatures' names.
and then, around 30% I started to understand :) and I can say now that I'm a fan!
The story begins with Meghan, a girl that people barely notice, and her friend Robbie.
One day, Meghan gets home and realizes her little brother has been kidnapped. Big is her surprise when she founds out that she has to immerse herself into a whole new world to get him back. A world that she will learn to love and fight for. A world in which she has a major role to play (but has no idea yet) and a world where his best friend is a different person than she thought!
The world Julie Kagawa created for this series is outstanding. It's absolutely magical. I could totally picture the Summer and Winter Courts with it's very unique characteristics.
The summer kingdom so beautiful but at the same time so dangerous, and the Winter Court so lethal for anyone, specially for Meghan Chase.
Regarding characters I liked Puck, he is funny and loyal, but sometimes I wanted to kill him!
“Time to switch to decaf, princess. If you're going to shriek at every bogey that jumps out and says 'boo', you'll be exhausted before we reach the edge of the woods. -Puck”
Meghan is a little green in this book, meaning she hasn't mature yet, but as the series develops she grows a lot, so do't judge her yet hehe. One good thing about her, she has an incredibly strong will.
And Ash... the Ice prince... cold, distant, deadly and intriguing, ... did I mention sexy?
“I licked my lips and whispered, "Is this where you say you'll kill me?"
One corner of his lips curled. "If you like," he murmured, a flicker of amusement finally crossing his face. "Though it's gotten far too interesting for that.”

Though the best character ever is Grimalkin, the cat.
Oh yes! He reminds me a bit of the cat in "Alice in Wonderland", he is beyond smart, shrewd and as every cat he is a little smug hehe.
He made me giggle all through the series.
Especially when someone asked him anything and he would come out with a simple answer as:
"I am a cat", in a matter of factly kind of way! as if that explains it all!
The way Kagawa mimicked a cats movement, licking his paws, cleaning his legs and moving his whiskers is super funny and real! I could picture my cat at every second!
The pace is balanced, not so fast, not so slow, we have a lot of action and tension. And the writing is simple but nice.
Honestly I super enjoyed this.
Anyway, right now I'm almost done with book 4 so you will be reading more of these reviews.
